Barbar

Barbora Kysilková, who works under the name Barbar, has lived in Prague, Oxford, Berlin and Oslo. Now she lives in a secluded spot in the Swedish forests. The exhibition Homo tempus, for which this catalogue was created, is the largest exhibition of her work to date. Barbar is dedicated to realistic – sometimes even hyperrealistic – depictions of reality and figurative painting. In her paintings, she often shows viewers real figures, whom she puts in intense emotional situations and plays out stories with them that tell of life, death and reconciliation. Her aim is not to shock, but to present life in all its forms – realistically and without exaggeration. It is not only about the raw depiction of death, but also about intimate moments or moments of strong emotional tension.
The catalogue is divided into a notebook with a long interview with Barbora Kysilkova conducted by the exhibition curator Alena Ochepovsky and a pictorial part – cards with individual works.

In 20 chapters, the authors describe the most important buildings in Benešov, such as the Hotel Karlov, the Municipal Savings Bank or St. Anne's Church, and gradually reveal the individual layers of the town, whether in historical, geographical or sociological terms. The individual stories show how important the relationship between the investor and the architect is, as in the case of Josef Pleskot and Mojmir Chromý during the construction of the town hall. Or how historical buildings can create the identity of a city, as in the case of the torsos of the Minorite monastery in Karlovo.

Všednost Lukáše Musila

Lukáš Musil's catalogue, Všednost/Omnipresence (wrapped in a pocket of tracing paper), was published to accompany Lukáš Musil's weekly intervention of the same name, which responds to the part of the exhibition Všednost that was in this room until last week. The paintings and photographs that were originally exhibited here dealt with the theme of everyday life, the mundane, and how the global pandemic has affected our perception of the everyday.

The exhibition catalogue Salon of Benešov Region Artists 2022 is published for the exhibition of Benešov artists, a traditional showcase of regional art. A wide range of artistic approaches from both the field of free art and design will appear in it. The exhibition and catalogue will feature 29 amateur and professional artists. Included will be popular landscape paintings, illustrations, comics, video art, original jewelry, abstract and figurative sculptures, and various types of photography from art to analogue.

In addition to the works on display, the catalogue includes texts by the exhibiting artists. In addition, each catalogue bears a unique artwork label.

Prostory touhy / Spaces of Desire

Spaces of Desire: Is Architecture Sexy? This is the title of the exhibition offered by the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery. Sex, identity and space are the themes that suggest that this will not be a look into the bedrooms of the inhabitants of architectural gems. The exhibition will use the story of 20th-century architecture to show how different sexualities and gender roles have shaped architecture, space and the process of architectural creation, and how, in turn, architecture and urbanism influence gender stereotypes in our society. Examples will be the works and ideas of leading architects and artists – Adolf Loos, Otto Wagner, Jan Kotěra, Hana Kučerová-Záveská, Jan Kaplický...
